Cuttack: Police recorded statements of a SCB dental college student here after she levelled sexual harassment charges against two of her college seniors. A team of Mangalabag police today recorded statements of the student under Section 161 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Earlier on Monday, a case was registered against the dental department’s associate professor Niranjan Mishra and senior resident Krishan Gopal Birmiwal under sections 354, 354 A, 294, 506 and 34 of the IPC for allegedly making sexual advances against the wish of the student.
The 25-year-old victim hailing from Uttarakhand had filed an FIR at Mangalabag police station alleging that she was being sexually harassed by Associate Professor and Senior Resident in the college. Even the Head of Department turned a deaf ear to her complaint, she alleged in the FIR. Acting on the FIR, a case was registered and a probe was started.
Meanwhile, refuting all charges, SCB Dental wing HoD Prof Indu Bhusan Kar said the allegations are baseless, false, fabricated and vindictive. The student was asked to perform night duty but she denied. When the authorities insisted, she levelled false allegations against them, Kar clarified. The DCP said, the victim has declined to undergoing necessary medical examination.
