Bhubaneswar: The much awaited film city in Odisha where tourists will have Disney World-like experience will come up soon in Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon Chilika.
The proposed project born from ‘Make in Odisha’ campaign launched by Odisha government to make investment in film production sector will be in reality as the film city will be set up at investment of Rs.5,000 crore on Chilika shore.
The film city would be built up in a total area of 1,000 acres, out of which 370 acres has been allotted so far for beginning the project.
This would surpass other film cities in national and international levels in terms of infrastructure and design, said Bollywood film producer Mushtaq Nadiadwala, who heads the project, during his visit to Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
Architects and sculptors of Dubai, Singapore and London are preparing the blueprint and design for the project, which would be completed in two years. Apart from facilities of a star hotel and a film shooting spot as featured in the Ramoji Film City in Andhra Pradesh, arrangements would be made for a shooting complex and a shooting floor using advanced technology in the Chilika film city, Nadiadwala said.
The light, sound and several scenes would be controlled in remote, for which less time would be spent for setting lights for shooting. Special facilities would be provided for shooting of Odia films.
At least 15 films can be shot simultaneously in the Chilika film city. Besides creating job opportunities for Odisha youths, the number of tourists would also rise in Chilika, he added.
