Sources said, students of the college have been staging a dharna in front of the Principal’s chamber for the last two days over some issues relating to cultural programmes for the foundation day celebrations. The college authorities had written a letter to the Higher Education Department in this regard.
According to reports, students’ union president and secretary had opposed to the scheduled cultural programme, which was to be held by culture secretary, had a support of the Principal despite the fact that no progrogramme is allowed during exam season after January 20.
The student union president and the secretary had demanded that Principal cancel the cultural programme. “It is disappointing that the Principal declared the college sine die after midnight at 2 am instead of cancelling the cultural programme.The college needs to remain open as exam days are coming,” said students’ union president.

The students who went to the college this morning started coming back home as the college gate was locked.
Adequate police have been deployed in the college to ensure that no untoward incident happens in the college.
