Bhubaneswar: Muna Murmu, a +3 final year Arts student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has found place in the India team to participate in the Asian 15-A-Side Rugby Championship which will be held at Tashkent in Uzbekistan from from May 27 to 30
Besides Muna, other team members include Mohit Khatri, Prince Khatri, Neeraj Khatri, Vikas Khatri, Sourabh Dubal, Deepak Punia, Bhupendra Bokan (all from Haryana), Hitesh Dagar, Bharat Dagar, Mukesh Mankotia, Nitin Dagar, Gautam Dagar, Monu Yadav (all from Delhi), Anand Godiwala, Pappu Todkar (all from Maharashtra) Parvender Singh, Shokendar, Surinder Singh, Sujai Lama Suresh Sajwan, Samser Singh (all services –SSCB), Suraj Prasad, Suraj Veer Sharma (all from West Bengal) and Roshan Lobo (Karnataka).
Earlier, Muna had represented India in Asian under-20 Rugby Championship held at Laos in 2010 and visited France in 2009.
Muna belongs to a very poor Santal tribal family of Chudanga in Khurda district.
Expressing happiness over Muna’s success founder, KIIT and KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta said he is not only the pride of his father Surendra and mother Neha Murmu, but also the pride of entire tribal community.
